One Ninja at a Time
My
name is Elliot, the maker of Elliot's Ninja Art. I'm eight years old
and I make art to help homeless people in my city. Each sale helps me
to give needed items to people who are living in tents or on the street.
One day when I was riding in the car with my mom, I saw a homeless
person and I felt bad. I asked my mom if I could give my money to the
homeless person. She said that I could help in other ways. When I got
home, I thought about how I could help.
I like to paint, and I love ninjas. I asked my mom about starting my own Etsy shop, and she said it could be a way to help.
The first weekend, I sold almost every one of my paintings.
Two
months later, the editor of the Greensboro Voice saw my shop, bought a
shirt, and sent a reporter to visit me. After the interview, the local
news station here came to interview me.
I have visited a tent
city in our town, where I met the people who I help. I am planning to
visit the camp again in the next few weeks. It made me feel good to
help.
The idea of being homeless horrifies me. I wish that there
was no such thing as homelessness. If every one helped, homelessness
would be gone. One Ninja At A Time.
